This patient in her mid-twenties came to my office to discuss cosmetic surgery options. She was interested in improving her torso with minimal recovery time. She had very good skin tone and was an excellent candidate for liposuction of her torso. I treated her torso circumferentially (abdomen and flanks) and removed 1250cc of fat.
Liposuction can be performed under local anesthesia, intravenous sedation (twilight anesthesia) or general anesthesia. Many different techniques of liposuction exist; however, no scientific study has ever demonstrated an aesthetic benefit to laser liposuction. Adding laser energy to the liposuction destroys soft tissue and can increase uncontrolled scarring between the skin and muscles resulting in contour irregularities. Tumescent liposuction is safe, reliable and delivers optimal aesthetic results.
