This patient in her late thirties from Boston’s South Shore came to my office to discuss body contouring surgery after massive weight loss. She lost 120 pounds by diet and exercise; her BMI went from 47.5 to 25.5. Once her weight was stable for a year she came to see me to discuss body contouring surgery. Her top concerns were her torso and her inner thighs. Her surgery was an extended abdominoplasty with liposuction from the torso and a medial thigh lift with liposuction from the thighs. These procedures were done at the same operation.

Body contouring surgery can be an important part of a person’s weight loss journey. Often massive weight loss leaves loose skin that is not treatable other than by surgery. However the results of surgery are dramatic, permanent and can be quite important to patient’s physical and emotional wellbeing.
