What is FaceTite?

FaceTite is a procedure that provides a less invasive option for people who don’t want to have a facelift.

FaceTite is among the comprehensive array of cosmetic procedures available to patients at Clareo Plastic Surgery. Our board-certified Boston plastic surgeon, Dr. Tantillo, at Clareo Plastic Surgery combines cutting-edge medical training and procedures with an eye for artistic excellence.

What is FaceTite?

FaceTite is an FDA-approved rejuvenation procedure that works well for anyone whose face shows evidence of aging. FaceTite uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to improve skin tone, primarily in your face and neck, including your jawline and jowls.

FaceTite stimulates collagen production, which supports and firms your skin. The procedure is much less invasive than a traditional facelift. FaceTite is considered a safe surgery that can benefit all skin types. It generally produces less pain than other face-tightening procedures.

The technique can often be paired with liposuction in a procedure known as RFAL or radiofrequency-assisted liposuction. Removing excess fat can help create a more contoured result. As a standalone procedure, FaceTite requires only a few tiny, bladeless incisions to insert a thin probe that will be used to deliver targeted RF energy beneath the outer layers of the skin.

Am I a candidate for FaceTite?

Candidates generally include anyone whose neck and facial skin has sagged. Some people who have undergone a traditional facelift use FaceTite to maintain their results without undergoing another round of extensive surgery. If you'd like to learn more about our FaceTite Boston plastic surgeons at Clareo Plastic Surgery can answer any questions you have and help you determine if the procedure is right for you. Risks and possible side effects

FaceTite is considered an extremely safe procedure, as it does not require general anesthesia, repositioning of muscles, or lengthy downtime. FaceTite does produce some temporary swelling and bruising. Mild numbness is normal and resolves in four to eight weeks. While extremely rare, nerve damage is possible. Like any surgical procedure, FaceTite comes with risks, including infections, bleeding, and scarring. Your doctor’s experience level matters, which is why it is imperative to select an elite level, board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr. Michael Tantillo at Clareo Plastic Surgery.

Preparing for your FaceTite procedure

You should stay at a stable weight for several months before your procedure. Gaining or losing weight could alter your results. Tell your doctor about all medications and supplements you are taking. For at least several days before your surgery, avoid aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) that might promote excessive bleeding. After receiving FaceTite, patients will need someone to drive them home.

Your FaceTite Procedure

FaceTite is performed at your plastic surgeon’s office under local anesthesia. Your doctor will numb your treatment areas with a medicated cream. You may also be given an oral sedative, depending on the nature of your treatment. Your surgeon will make a small, bladeless incision near every treatment area. The incisions are so small that visible scarring is avoided, and no sutures are necessary.

Small probes are inserted through these tiny incisions. The probes transmit radiofrequency energy that heats your underlying facial tissues and liquifies facial fat. A separate tube suctions out this liquid. Most Boston FaceTite patients report that the procedure is quite comfortable. Throughout the surgery, you will be conscious enough to communicate.

FaceTite is a relatively new procedure that was approved for use in the U.S. in 2016. But the radiofrequency technology behind FaceTite has been safely used in MRIs and other medical scans and treatments for years. The FaceTite technique was created to treat delicate areas of the skin without damaging sensitive tissues. The probes used in your FaceTite procedure have thermal controls for enhanced safety. The devices automatically shut down if they reach a temperature that could cause tissue damage.

Your procedure will be completed within a few hours, and no overnight hospital stay is required. You can go home after your procedure, but, again, you will need someone to drive you.

Recovery after FaceTite

Once your procedure is completed, you’ll be provided with compression garments that you’ll wear home. These garments help ensure proper healing and skin tightening. You may be instructed to wear a head garment around the clock for a few days and then just at night for a longer period. You will likely experience some swelling lasting up to ten days.

One recent study noted that most patients went back to work after two days.

Your skin will continue to tighten for three to six months. Be sure to use sunscreen anytime you are exposed to even indirect sunlight.

We may recommend medical-grade skincare products to maximize the speed of recovery and maximize your results.

Results

You should expect an impressive improvement in skin laxity as you recover, and your skin tone should continue to improve for several months. While individual results will vary, the benefits of your FaceTite procedure can last for up to five years.

It is important to remember that no other cosmetic procedure will produce the dramatic results of a full facelift.

FaceTite Costs

The cost of FaceTite will vary according to how extensive your procedure is. Since FaceTite is a cosmetic procedure, your insurance will not pay for it. You will receive upfront estimates for your procedure during your consultation.
